Brothers, Family, and Friends —

Welcome to Omicron Alpha Lambda (OAL) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated — proudly known as “The Chapter the Jewels Would Call Home.” Our Fraternity was born at Cornell University in 1906, founded by seven extraordinary men who came together as a study and support group in the face of racial prejudice. These founders were designated Jewels not simply for their presence, but for their unwavering commitment to the growth and expansion of something greater than themselves.

The Jewel founders succeeded in laying a firm foundation of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the upliftment of humanity — a standard OAL is honored to carry forward.

Alpha Phi Alpha has long stood at the forefront of advocacy and justice. From W.E.B. DuBois and Thurgood Marshall to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Paul Robeson, our Brotherhood has shaped the conscience of a nation. That legacy is not a relic — it is a living responsibility. The Chapter must and will do more to advocate for the Rappahannock Region and the communities we serve.

I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me to serve as your President. Our vision is clear: to be an Entrusted Leader in the Community through planning, engaging, and connecting while sustaining the Fraternity’s Mission. We will “Grow the House” of Alpha by building a framework that sustains us for generations to come — without ever losing the close Brotherly bonds that define us. That will take a commitment on your part to be engaged and not isolate yourselves from our dynamic Brotherhood.

YOUR CALL TO SERVE

Membership in Alpha Phi Alpha requires an investment of your personal time, talents, and money. I challenge you to commit to one of these three ways to contribute:

I. TIME

Active participation on a Program, Committee, Initiative, or as an Officer of the Chapter.

II. TALENT

Sharing your skills and expertise in support of Chapter activities and community programs.

III. TREASURE

Paying Chapter dues and providing financial support for Programs, Initiatives, and planned events.

Together, we will honor the Jewels, strengthen our Brotherhood, and build a legacy that the communities of Fredericksburg will always be proud to call their own.
