To the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock Community, Our Brothers, and Friends,

As we open the 2026–2027 Fraternal Year, I want to thank you, our neighbors, partners, and friends throughout the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock community, for the trust and support you continue to place in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter (OAL), “The Chapter the Jewels Would Call Home.”

Every year, we build on the foundation laid by our Jewel Founders in 1906: scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the upliftment of humanity. That foundation was never meant to serve us alone. It is something we are called to refine and strengthen together so that this community continues to feel its impact every single year.

​

That is why our theme for 2026–2027 is:

“Refining the Foundation: Rooted in Purpose, Structured to Advance the Mission.”

​

This theme reflects exactly where OAL stands today: a Chapter finalizing the ratification of its Constitution and Bylaws, reinvesting in the structures that allow us to serve you well, and channeling our energy so that our mission moves forward in ways that are deliberate, measurable, and true to why we do this work: for the good of the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock community.

Our vision remains our compass:

“To be an entrusted leader in the community through planning, engaging, and connecting, while sustaining the Fraternity’s mission.”

We continue to “Grow the House” of Alpha through three pillars: Operational Efficiency, Community Advocacy, and Brotherhood Development. A Chapter that plans well, engages its community, and connects its Brothers is a Chapter built to last.

OUR GOALS FOR 2026–2027

​

1. Community Advocacy- Redefine and launch a reinvigorated Justice Advocacy Committee (JAC) program, standing on behalf of the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock community on the issues that matter most.

2. Advisor and Mentor Development- Formalize our Advisor and Mentor Committee so every Brother and every young man in our community who looks to us for guidance has a reliable source of support and direction.

3. Brother Workshops and Training- Deliver a full calendar of workshops and training opportunities that help our Brothers grow professionally, personally, and fraternally so we are better prepared to serve the community around us.

4. Strategic Community Partnerships- Refine and prioritize partnerships with community organizations, schools, churches, and civic leaders that best advance our shared mission, with a clear scope and mutual benefit.

5. Constitution and Bylaws- Finalize the revision and ratification of our Chapter Constitution and Bylaws, strengthening the internal foundation that allows us to remain a stable, accountable partner to this community for years to come.

None of this happens without you. Our Brothers remain committed to deepening their service this year, and we invite this community to walk alongside us, partner with us, celebrate with us, and hold us accountable to the goals we have set.

Growth is never a spectator activity. It is built meeting by meeting, program by program, and partnership by partnership.
