Our Leadership

The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the chapter, providing strategic vision and presiding over all regular and executive board meetings. He is responsible for enforcing the national constitution, local bylaws, and ensuring the chapter fulfills its civic and fraternal obligations. Additionally, he appoints committee chairs and acts as the official representative of the chapter to the district, region, and general organization.

The Vice President supports the President in all executive duties and presides over chapter operations in the President's absence. He often acts as a coordinator for the chapter's standing committees to ensure alignment with overarching goals. He plays a key role in tracking the progress of strategic initiatives and program execution across the service area.

The Recording Secretary is the official custodian of the chapter’s internal records, meeting minutes, and legislative history. He tracks attendance, maintains the official chapter roster, and ensures an accurate record of all chapter decisions. His work keeps the chapter organized, compliant, and structurally sound during business meetings.

The Corresponding Secretary manages the chapter’s external communications and official correspondence. He is responsible for notifying the brotherhood of upcoming meetings, events, and critical deadlines, while also handling incoming mail and national headquarters communications. He ensures that both the chapter and the community stay well-informed and connected.

The Treasurer serves as the chief financial custodian of the chapter's bank accounts, assets, and investments. He is responsible for disbursing funds based on approved vouchers, preparing monthly financial statements, and managing the chapter's annual budget. He collaborates closely with the Financial Secretary to ensure absolute fiscal accountability and transparency.

The Director of Educational Activities leads the planning and execution of the chapter’s scholarship programs and national educational mandates, such as Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College. He manages the distribution of chapter scholarships, coordinates tutoring or mentoring initiatives, and tracks the metrics of the chapter's educational outreach.

The Chaplain provides spiritual leadership, guidance, and moral support to the brotherhood. He is responsible for opening and closing all chapter meetings with the official Alpha Prayer and coordinating fraternal comfort initiatives for sick or distressed brothers. He also leads Omega Services to honor brothers who have transitioned to the Omega Chapter.

The Sergeant-at-Arms maintains order, decorum, and security during all chapter meetings and official assemblies. He verifies the credentials and financial standing of brothers entering the meeting room to preserve the privacy of fraternal deliberations. He also assists the President in enforcing parliamentary procedure and managing the polling of the house during votes.​

The Dean of Membership Intake coordinates and oversees all aspects of the Initial Membership Development Process (IMDP). He ensures absolute compliance with national risk management policies, timelines, and educational guidelines for aspirants. He acts as the main liaison between the local chapter, the district, and corporate headquarters regarding all intake activities.

The Financial Secretary is the primary officer responsible for receiving and tracking all chapter funds, dues, and assessments from the brothers. He issues official receipts, maintains accurate ledgers of individual financial standing, and transfers all collected funds directly to the Treasurer. His oversight ensures transparent tracking of member accounts before money ever enters the bank.

The Immediate Past President is the most recently departed chapter president. The IPP serves as a primary counsel and mentor to the sitting president, offering guidance drawn from direct experience in the role. He helps preserve continuity of chapter operations, ensuring that programs, initiatives, and relationships built during the previous administration are not lost during the transition. 

The Associate Editor of the Sphinx serves as the public relations and media officer for the chapter. He drafts press releases, manages digital and social media platforms, and submits chapter news and photos to the national publication, The Sphinx. His primary goal is to amplify the chapter's positive community impact and ensure strong public visibility.

The Historian is responsible for preserving the legacy, archives, and physical memorabilia of the chapter. He compiles historical data, maintains the chapter's official history files, and documents current events through photography and written summaries. His work ensures that the chapter's achievements and community milestones are accurately preserved for future generations.

The Parliamentarian ensuring that all chapter business is conducted in accordance with proper rules and procedures. He serves as the chapter's expert on parliamentary procedure, primarily guided by Robert's Rules of Order (the standard for Alpha Phi Alpha), as well as the Fraternity's own Constitution and Bylaws and General Chapter guidelines. He advises the President and the Chapter on questions of parliamentary law and procedures according to Robert's Rules of Order. As requested by the President, he shall give the correct procedures for the elimination of a parliamentary issues at hand.

As part of the Virginia Association of Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (VACAPAF) staff, he is given a seat at the officer table out of honor and respect of his appointed State position. He bridges the gap between State/Area policies and activities with the current administration.
